Here's what we've been up to...

Charity Work for Calaid

We’ve been in talks with the lovely Janie of Glam Hatters for some time now with regards to teaming up for corporate and hen party packages, however, while we haven’t quite got all of that finalised just yet, a fantastic opportunity for us to do a bit of charity work together did present itself!

It turns out Janie is quite the superwoman! Having been a hugely successful milliner and now running a very successful business at Glam Hatters (which offers hat making workshops for hen parties and private and corporate events – you should check it out!) she also undertakes a lot of charity work and her latest project was raising funds for CalAid.

For those that don’t know, CalAid are a charity sending aid to refugees in Calais, Dunkirk, Lesvos, Syria and anywhere there is a need.

With Refugee week looming and World Refugee Day falling on 20th June, Janie choose CalAid to raise funds for. She initially spoke with her daughter’s school about her ideas of a food bank who thought it was a great idea and also put her in touch with other schools as well. Empty boxes were left at a selection of North London schools to collect food for the emergency back packs that are needed in Calais and Dunkirk. Our job, along with the glam hatters girls, was to raise the petrol money to transport the food collection down to CalAid!

Camilla was on hand offering face painting and glitter embellishments as well as our lovely Henna Artist, Alpa, offering Henna designs. Janie and her Glam Hatter girls had a great area with lots of crafty bits laid out for people to choose from to make their fascinator creations.

It was a great evening and enough money raised to pay for the diesel to ship over 30 boxes of tinned food and oil to Calais!

We just wanted to say a huge thank you to Janie from Glam Hatters for allowing us to be part of such a worthy cause and a huge hats off (no pun inended) to her for organising such a successful charity mission!
